Introductory essay
Hello, my name is Andrea. I´m twenty-one years old. I’m a student from the BA in English Language Teaching. I´m in the third semester of the BA and I have to say that this major seems to be good. But let´s talk more about me. I´m a girl who has black hair. I wear glasses. My height is 1.67 m. I´m kind of thin. At the present, I live in Aguascalientes and where I was born was in San Juan de los Lagos, Jalisco.
I want to share my likes and dislikes with you. First, the things that I like. I like to eat pasta because Italian food is my favorite food. Also I like Mexican food like tamales, enchiladas and burritos. Another thing that I like is music. The kind of music that I prefer the most is pop genre. Also I listen to rock music, but not the heavy one. Those are my favorite kinds of music that I like to listen and to sing, even I`m not a good singer. The last thing that I want to share, talking about my likes is the T.V. programs that I prefer to watch. Those programs are Grey`s Anatomy, The first 48, The Simpson, Scrubs, Cold case, among others. These are the things that I like, but also there are other things that I dislike. For example, fruits that I don´t like are: papaya, pear, and prickly pear. Another thing that I hate is some colors like yellow color and orange color. These likes and dislikes were the most important that you should know about me.
As I said before I`m a student, and I have some plans to my life while I`m doing it. In first place, I want to get a job as an English teacher before I finish the BA because that job will give me the experience that I will need as a teacher.
Also I would like to earn my own money. In second place, I will finish the career on time. I hope that it be really on time. In third place, I will buy a car with the money that I save. Because now it is very important to get a car, especially if a teacher has more than one job at different schools.
Those were just some plans for the future, but also I have some plans too for my further future. First, I want to look for a scholarship because I would like to do a master´s degree. I would like to do it in London. I think that if I have a master, I will be a better teacher. Second, I want to open my own English school in my town where people can have access to learn English in the best way and quality. Third, after I achieve those plans I want to take a break for traveling. I would like to go to Miami or maybe Sydney. That would be great.
Finally, I want to say that was a pleasure to share with you my identity, my likes and dislikes and my plans. Those things are the ones that are part of my life. And talking about my plans I hope that I can accomplish them in the right moment.

Electronic literacy
Have you ever thought what electronic literacy is? Probably you have used the computer to write an e-mail, to read an article, to watch a video, but you didn‘t know that it is electronic literacy. Electronic literacy is the ability to use non-printed information from a web site in order to read it; the use of cell phones, word processors all those things are useful to write a text by using the language in a formal and informal way. Electronic literacy is useful in order to interact with other communities, to learn new ways of speech from all over the world. So, electronic literacy has many functions and uses for us.
The internet has many applications in our daily life. Like for example, we have access to the e-mail for personal aspects and for job situations. This is very useful and the most common uses of that. Another application of it is that we use some search engines to look for information about academic purposes also for getting information of some products or just for knowing more about the world. The most common search engines are Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc. Now, these applications have some advantages and disadvantages. The advantages of these applications are that those search engines are tools for us because we can save time in some researches, to save time for communicating job problems or solutions about the job. In addition, those applications are useful to know more about other ways of thinking. The disadvantages of those applications are that we almost never use in the appropriate way. We spend time just chatting without any specific purpose also we just use the internet to share personal information in certain web pages like Hi5, Facebook, etc. Those things about the internet are the most known by people, but it also has other applications.
The use of internet in education has an important role nowadays. The internet is the most important tool to the process of teaching. Because with that tool students can use electronic media for academic writing, researching and for learning new things from other cultures. But the use of internet in education nowadays is for learning new languages; in my own experience I use it to learn English language. By using internet we can access to many web sites where you can practice the language that you are learning and have brief explanations of the target language. So, in that way you can improve your L2 because you can practice your reading, listening, writing skills even you can practice your speaking skill by using the Skype web site where you are in touch with native speakers also with students of the target language. Talking about the L1 I have learned too. Since I am learning a new language I can learn more about my own language. It is in order to have a better comprehension of the L2 that I am learning. So, you also can use the internet to learn a second language as the same as me. Of course we can use other sources to improve our native language and non-native language.
What we can use in order to improve our own language and the new language. Most of us are familiar with the use of e-mails, chat rooms, blogs, etc. But we don`t know that it can be useful for our improvement in learning languages. Like for example we can use the e-mail to send homework or to send a letter to friends, but we need to have some netiquette for giving a good impression of ourselves. It is important with the intention of practice our writing skill where it is inside the grammar, spelling, so in that way we can realize that if we really are learning to use the language in real contexts. Also we can have communication with other peers by blogging. We can help each other in order to increase our ability with the language. Finally, we can have access to real language in chat rooms. On that chats we can communicate with people from all over the world in order to learn their culture and their speech communication.
To finish, electronic literacy involves many things that are useful for us. But the most outstanding would be for education because it is an instrument for us as teachers and as students for having well development of knowledge in general, but more specific in learning languages. I think that will use for improving and learning the English language blogs, wikis, virtual libraries and the most common for research that is search engines that are very practical to look for information that we usually need.

Cerro del Muerto: an amazing experience
Have you ever had the opportunity of being on a place with a great view? Have you experienced the climb on the “Cerro del Muerto”? If your answer is no, let me share with you my own experience of being at the top of the “Cerro del Muerto”. As you know “Cerro del Muerto” is a representative hill here in Aguascalientes. However, many people do not go to that place. They do not know that at the top of “Cerro del Muerto” there is a marvelous view.
I went to “Cerro del Muerto” one radiant day in the morning. That morning was frosty, but the sun was shining. I got in Tere`s car with three more friends. We were wearing sport cloths. We met in the university at 9 a.m. Tere drove to the hill, while she was driving, I observed the road to that place. The first thing that I noticed was that there was not too much traffic. We took Aguascalientes Avenue and then the road to Calvillo was quiet and straight. There were not too many houses near to the road. We passed a bridge that was the reference that somebody gave us as a sign that the mountain was near. The bridge was large and it crossed the road. Another sign was a restaurant that was at the edge of the road. It was a big restaurant. Tere parked and we went out of the car. I stood in front of the hill and I looked the whole mountain and I realized that climbing would not be easy.
I started to walk in order to arrive at the top of the hill. I was walking and breathing in a softly way. It was because I did not want to get tired easily. The road at the beginning was flat then, it became rocky and difficult to climb because the rocks were too big and the slope was becoming higher. I was afraid of fall down. In the middle of the road, I wanted to give up because I was getting really tired. But I saw that my friends were happy of climbing the hill. They never stopped to rest for a while. In contrast, I decided to take a rest for a moment. I sat on a rock and I figured out that there almost no plants. The few plants that existed were dry. When I felt that I had rested enough time I continued climbing the mountain. I should say that it was a challenge to me because I was really tired, but I got back to my way and I was saying to myself that I could make it.
Finally, I arrived at the top of the mountain and I discovered that the view that I had of the city on the top of the hill was pleasant. I could hear the sound of the air that was like a whisper, a soft and delicate murmur. Also how the air caressed my face with a delicate touch. The clouds were like if you feel them and they were at the top of my head. They were also as cotton because they were white. The sun was not too hot, so it warmed my back so nice. The sun could be seen through the clouds. Being there I could breathe pure air, but the most amazing thing was the view of the city from the “Cerro del Muerto”. The houses looked like doll houses as their size was small from above. The road looks like a tiny path that did not have direction. Standing there I reflected that the city is really small and it is nothing compared to what the nature offers you.
Certainly, it was a splendid experience that I had had and I would like to do it again. Because when you are at the head of the hill you feel an unexplored feeling of happiness because the view at the top of the hill is the most wonderful thing that you can ever see in your whole life. Actually, on “Cerro del Muerto” you can find the most beautiful things that the nature gives us to think on that. We should take time to admire it. It does not matter that you have to make an effort to arrive until there. It is really great. Would you like to try out that experience?

Have you ever thought getting a tattoo? Probably yes, right? Because maybe your favorite actress or player has one. Nowadays, it is common that many people get tattoos. It is because we are having an influence of getting tattoos through some T.V. programs like “Miami ink” and “Inked”. These programs show us that tattoos are the most amazing experience to get one. But, have those programs shown that tattoos are bad for humans.
First, when you get a tattoo you can have problems at work because it is something that is not well seen. In some companies and corporations they do not permit employers with tattoos because tattoos can give a bad impression about their company. So, tattoos can inhibit your ability to get a job. On the other hand; some people think that companies and corporations need to respect what their employers do with their body. It in order to have a good workplace where employers can have their tattoos, but they will need to cover them. So, in that way tattoos should not be a problem at work.
Secondly, getting a tattoo has some risks that affect your health. Those risks could be blood-borne diseases. It results because if the equipment used to create your tattoo is contaminated with the blood of an infected person, you can contract a number of serious blood-borne diseases. These include hepatitis C, hepatitis B, tetanus, tuberculosis and HIV the virus that causes AIDS. Another risk is skin infections. Tattoos can lead to local bacterial infections. Typical signs and symptoms of an infection include redness, warmth, swelling and a pus-like drainage. Even though, there are people who claim that it is not going to happen if you go to the right place to get your tattoo because the tattooing process is completely sure.
Third, tattoos cannot allow you to donate blood. According to Hudson,K.L. (n.d.) “donating blood platelets or plasma has always been a noble pursuit to help those in need”. She states that “finding suitable donors has become increasingly more difficult because many people have a tattoo and the blood bank doesn't want to risk accepting contaminated blood”. ( Hudson,K.L. n.d.) Although there is a regulation that says that you can wait a year after your tattoo was applied you can donate blood. But it does not mean that it is a safe process of donating blood because you can transmit a disease to the person that needs the blood.
As a conclusion, to get a tattoo or have one is not a sin; you just need to be conscious that it can carry out some problems in your health and in your job. Also you have to consider that having a tattoo is something that you will have for the rest of your life. It is not a fashion that you can change when you want it, so it will stay forever.

Weddings around the globe
Do you know how weddings in different parts of the world are? Many of us have been in a wedding and we have seen that the ceremony is the same in our culture, but what about other Cultures, are weddings the same to our own culture? As we know weddings may vary from country to country and it depends on their culture.
Usually, in some cultures before getting married it is necessary the proposal. For example, in the western culture the proposal is different to the islamic culture. First, in a western culture it is a tradition that the groom gives a ring to the girl and he asks her if she wants to get married. In contrast, in the Islamic culture the proposal occurs in a different way. The father of the groom and their close relatives visit the home of the bride to ask for her hand in marriage. It involves negotiations between the families and they have a legal agreement.
Another difference that makes weddings different from the western culture to the islamic culture is the clothes of the bride and groom. In western weddings, the bride wears a white gown and the groom wears a tuxedo. However, in islamic weddings the bride wears a dress of color black with something red. Also she has all the face covered. Bride`s hands and feet are decorated with henna. It symbolizes health, beauty, and luck. In addition, they use a lot of jewelry.
As cultures are different in both kinds of weddings the ceremony has to be different. These ceremonies in western culture are in this way: the bride walks to the altar with her dad in the church to join her with the groom. They play religious songs and read the Christian scriptures. The bride and the groom exchange the vows and finally, the wedding kiss. On the contrary, in the Islamic culture they do a henna party for the bride. In this party the groom performs a special dance with swords. Also men and women sit separately and guests bring gifts to the bride. When the bride and the groom enter in their new house they meet for the first time, then they are officially married.
As we saw weddings are different in every country and this is because of marked cultural traditions. Not all the weddings are the same because each couple gives a special touch to their wedding according to their cultural beliefs. Weddings seem to be different in the world, but only one thing share in common to stay with the person that you love for the rest of your life.

It is because we are having an influence of getting tattoos through some T.V. programs like “Miami ink” and “Inked”. These programs show us that tattoos are the most amazing experience to get one. But, have those programs shown that tattoos are bad for humans.
First, when you get a tattoo you can have problems at work because it is something that is not well seen. In some companies and corporations they do not permit employers with tattoos because tattoos can give a bad impression about their company. So, tattoos can inhibit your ability to get a job. On the other hand; some people think that companies and corporations need to respect what their employers do with their body. It in order to have a good workplace where employers can have their tattoos, but they will need to cover them. So, in that way tattoos should not be a problem at work.
Secondly, getting a tattoo has some risks that affect your health. Those risks could be blood-borne diseases. It results because if the equipment used to create your tattoo is contaminated with the blood of an infected person, you can contract a number of serious blood-borne diseases. These include hepatitis C, hepatitis B, tetanus, tuberculosis and HIV the virus that causes AIDS. Another risk is skin infections. Tattoos can lead to local bacterial infections. Typical signs and symptoms of an infection include redness, warmth, swelling and a pus-like drainage. Even though, there are people who claim that it is not going to happen if you go to the right place to get your tattoo because the tattooing process is completely sure.
Third, tattoos cannot allow you to donate blood. According to Hudson,K.L. (n.d.) “donating blood platelets or plasma has always been a noble pursuit to help those in need”. Cerro del Muerto: an amazing experience
Have you ever had the opportunity of being on a place with a great view? Have you experienced the climb on the “Cerro del Muerto”? If your answer is no, let me share with you my own experience of being at the top of the “Cerro del Muerto”. As you know “Cerro del Muerto” is a representative hill here in Aguascalientes. However, many people do not go to that place. They do not know that at the top of “Cerro del Muerto” there is a marvelous view.
I went to “Cerro del Muerto” one radiant day in the morning. That morning was frosty, but the sun was shining. I got in Tere`s car with three more friends. We were wearing sport cloths. We met at the university at 9 a.m. Tere drove to the hill, while she was driving, I observed the road to that place. The first thing that I noticed was that there was not too much traffic. We took Aguascalientes Avenue and then the road to Calvillo was quiet and straight. There were not too many houses near to the road. We passed a bridge that was the reference that somebody gave us as a sign that the mountain was near. The bridge was large and it crossed the road. Another sign was a restaurant that was at the edge of the road. It was a big restaurant. Tere parked and we went out of the car. I stood in front of the hill and I looked the whole mountain and I realized that climbing would not be easy.
I started to walk in order to arrive at the top of the hill. I was walking and breathing in a softly way. It was because I did not want to get tired easily. The road at the beginning was flat then, it became rocky and difficult to climb because the rocks were too big and the slope was becoming higher. I was afraid of fall down. In the middle of the road, I wanted to give up because I was getting really tired. But I saw that my friends were happy of climbing the hill. They never stopped to rest for a while. In contrast, I decided to take a rest for a moment. I sat on a rock and figured out that there almost no plants. The few plants that existed were dry. When I felt that I had rested enough time I continued climbing the mountain. I should say that it was a challenge to me because I was really tired, but I got back to my way and I was saying to myself that I could make it.
Finally, I arrived at the top of the mountain and I discovered that the view that I had of the city on the top of the hill was pleasant. I could hear the sound of the air that was like a whisper, a soft and delicate murmur. Also how the air caressed my face with a delicate touch. The clouds were like if you feel them and they were at the top of my head. They were also as cotton because they were white. The sun was not too hot, so it warmed my back so nice. The sun could be seen through the clouds. Being there I could breathe pure air, but the most amazing thing was the view of the city from the “Cerro del Muerto”. The houses looked like doll houses as their size was small from above. The road looks like a tiny path that did not have direction. Standing there I reflected that the city is really small and it is nothing compared to what the nature offers you.
Certainly, it was a splendid experience that I had had and I would like to do it again. Because when you are at the head of the hill you feel an unexplored feeling of happiness because the view at the top of the hill is the most wonderful thing that you can ever see in your whole life. Actually, on “Cerro del Muerto” you can find the most beautiful things that the nature gives us to think on that. We should take time to admire it. It does not matter that you have to make an effort to arrive until there. It is really great. Would you like to try out that experience?

Cerro del Muerto: an amazing experience
Have you ever had the opportunity of being on a place with a great view? Have you experienced the climb on the “Cerro del Muerto”? If your answer is no, let me share with you my own experience of being at the top of the “Cerro del Muerto”. As you know “Cerro del Muerto” is a representative hill here in Aguascalientes. However, many people do not go to that place. They do not know that at the top of “Cerro del Muerto” there is a marvelous view.
I went to “Cerro del Muerto” one radiant day in the morning. That morning was frosty, but the sun was shining. I got in Tere`s car with three more friends. We were wearing sport cloths. We met at the university at 9 a.m. Tere drove to the hill, while she was driving, I observed the road to that place. The first thing that I noticed was that there was not too much traffic. We took Aguascalientes Avenue and then the road to Calvillo was quiet and straight. There were not too many houses near to the road. We passed a bridge that was the reference that somebody gave us as a sign that the mountain was near. The bridge was large and it crossed the road. Another sign was a restaurant that was at the edge of the road. It was a big restaurant. Tere parked and we went out of the car. I stood in front of the hill and I looked the whole mountain and I realized that climbing would not be easy.
I started to walk in order to arrive at the top of the hill. I was walking and breathing in a softly way. It was because I did not want to get tired easily. The road at the beginning was flat then, it became rocky and difficult to climb because the rocks were too big and the slope was becoming higher. I was afraid of fall down. In the middle of the road, I wanted to give up because I was getting really tired. But I saw that my friends were happy of climbing the hill. They never stopped to rest for a while. In contrast, I decided to take a rest for a moment. I sat on a rock and figured out that there almost no plants. The few plants that existed were dry. When I felt that I had rested enough time I continued climbing the mountain. I should say that it was a challenge to me because I was really tired, but I got back to my way and I was saying to myself that I could make it.
Finally, I arrived at the top of the mountain and I discovered that the view that I had of the city on the top of the hill was pleasant. I could hear the sound of the air that was like a whisper, a soft and delicate murmur. Also how the air caressed my face with a delicate touch. The clouds were like if you feel them and they were at the top of my head. They were also as cotton because they were white. The sun was not too hot, so it warmed my back so nice. The sun could be seen through the clouds. Being there I could breathe pure air, but the most amazing thing was the view of the city from the “Cerro del Muerto”. The houses looked like doll houses as their size was small from above. The road looks like a tiny path that did not have direction. Standing there I reflected that the city is really small and it is nothing compared to what the nature offers you.
Certainly, it was a splendid experience that I had had and I would like to do it again. Because when you are at the head of the hill you feel an unexplored feeling of happiness because the view at the top of the hill is the most wonderful thing that you can ever see in your whole life. Actually, on “Cerro del Muerto” you can find the most beautiful things that the nature gives us to think on that. We should take time to admire it. It does not matter that you have to make an effort to arrive until there. It is really great. Would you like to try out that experience?

Electronic literacy
Have you ever thought what electronic literacy is? Probably you have used the computer to write an e-mail, to read an article, to watch a video, but you didn‘t know that it is electronic literacy. Electronic literacy is the ability to use non-printed information from a web site in order to read it; the use of cell phones, word processors all those things are useful to write a text by using the language in a formal and informal way. Electronic literacy is useful in order to interact with other communities, to learn new ways of speech from all over the world. So, electronic literacy has many functions and uses for us.
The internet has many applications in our daily life. Like for example, we have access to the e-mail for personal aspects and for job situations. This is very useful and the most common uses of that. Another application of it is that we use some search engines to look for information about academic purposes also for getting information of some products or just for knowing more about the world. The most common search engines are Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc. Now, these applications have some advantages and disadvantages. The advantages of these applications are that those search engines are tools for us because we can save time in some researches, to save time for communicating job problems or solutions about the job. In addition, those applications are useful to know more about other ways of thinking. The disadvantages of those applications are that we almost never use in the appropriate way. We spend time just chatting without any specific purpose also we just use the internet to share personal information in certain web pages like Hi5, Facebook, etc. Those things about the internet are the most known by people, but it also has other applications.
The use of internet in education has an important role nowadays. The internet is the most important tool to the process of teaching. Because with that tool students can use electronic media for academic writing, researching and for learning new things from other cultures. But the use of internet in education nowadays is for learning new languages; in my own experience I use it to learn English language. By using internet we can access to many web sites where you can practice the language that you are learning and have brief explanations of the target language. So, in that way you can improve your L2 because you can practice your reading, listening, writing skills even you can practice your speaking skill by using the Skype web site where you are in touch with native speakers also with students of the target language. Talking about the L1 I have learned too. Since I am learning a new language I can learn more about my own language. It is in order to have a better comprehension of the L2 that I am learning. So, you also can use the internet to learn a second language as the same as me. Of course we can use other sources to improve our native language and non-native language.

To finish, electronic literacy involves many things that are useful for us. But the most outstanding would be for education because it is an instrument for us as teachers and as students for having well development of knowledge in general, but more specific in learning languages. I think that will use for improving and learning the English language blogs, wikis, virtual libraries and the most common for research that is search engines that are very practical to look for information that we usually need.

Another application of it is that we use some search engines for look for information about scholar purposes also for getting information of some products or just for knowing more about the world. The most common search engines are google, bing, yahoo, etc. Now, these applications have some advantages and disadvantages. The advantages of these applications of the internet are that it is mainly a tool for us because with it we can save time in some researches, to save time for communicating job stuffs and for knowing more about other ways of thinking. The disadvantages of that are that we almost never use it in the appropriate way. ESSAY
Hello, my name is Andrea. I´m twenty-one years old. I’m a student from the BA in English Language Teaching. I´m in the third semester of the BA and I have to say that this major seems to be good. But let´s talk more about me. I´m a girl who has black hair. I wear glasses. My height is 1.67 m. I´m kind of thin. At the present, I live in Aguascalientes and where I was born was in San Juan de los Lagos, Jalisco.
I want to share my likes and dislikes with you. First, the things that I like. I like to eat pasta because Italian food is my favorite food. Also I like Mexican food like tamales, enchiladas and burritos. Another thing that I like is music. The kind of music that I prefer the most is pop genre. Also I listen to rock music, but not the heavy one. Those are my favorite kinds of music that I like to listen and to sing, even I`m not a good singer. The last thing that I want to share, talking about my likes is the T.V. programs that I prefer to watch. Those programs are Grey`s Anatomy, The first 48, The Simpson, Scrubs, Cold case, among others. These are things that I like, but also there are other things that I dislike. For example, fruits that I don´t like are: papaya, pear, and prickly pear. Another thing that I hate is some colors like yellow color and orange color. These likes and dislikes were the most important that you should know about me.
As I said before I`m a student, and I have some plans to my life while I`m doing it. In first place, I want to get a job as an English teacher before I finish the BA because that job will give me the experience that I will need as a teacher.
Also I would like to earn my own money. In second place, I will finish the career on time. I hope that it be really on time. In third place, I will buy a car with the money that I save. Because now it is very important to get a car, especially if a teacher has more than one job at different schools.
Those were just some plans for the future, but also I have some plans too for my further future. First, I want to look for a scholarship because I would like to do a master´s degree. I would like to do it in London. I think that if I have a master, I will be a better teacher. Second, I want to open my own English school in my town where people can have access to learn English in the best way and quality. Third, after I achieve those plans I want to take a break for traveling. I would like to go to Miami or maybe Sydney. That would be great.
